The 10th Annual Antrobus Cabbage Canter was held on 21 September 2008. Full results are now available. How did it start? In 1998, Rosie Harris decided to try and get the local community a bit fitter, while raising money for the nursery school. Armed with a stopwatch and a car boot full of cabbages plus some eggs donated by Poplars Farm (she couldn't afford prizes) she parked outside the Village Shop, shouted 'Go!' and made a list of all the finishing times. She raised £130 for the nursery and the Antrobus Cabbage Canter had begun... Ten years later we have a committee of 8 and an army of local volunteers to help on the day. Each year the field increases steadily as word gets round (mostly about the cabbages!). Thanks to our many sponsors the event is managed in a professional manner whilst still retaining the friendliness and informality of a village event. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for participating and hope you have an enjoyable experience. All profits raised will help support Antrobus St Mark's Primary School and the 1st Antrobus and Comberbach Scout Group. |
